Austrian E-Invoicing — PEPPOL-Ready for Federal B2G
E-invoicing to the Austrian federal government has been mandatory since 2014. EncryptInvoice handles EN 16931 / PEPPOL formatting for ER>B (e-Rechnung.gv.at), plus UID checks. Free to start, no credit card.
Why Austrian Businesses Choose EncryptInvoice
Federal B2G Ready
EN 16931 / PEPPOL BIS 3.0 invoices for Austrian trade. Austria's federal portal lists PEPPOL among its channels, but EncryptInvoice does not yet set the routing details a federal entity requires.
UID Checks
UID (ATU) format + VIES pre-checks for Austrian VAT numbers. Users remain responsible for confirming official records.
Cross-Border PEPPOL
Send compliant e-invoices across Europe via the PEPPOL network. EUR pricing throughout. One platform for B2G and cross-border trade.
Austrian E-Invoicing Compliance
E-invoicing to Austria's federal government has been mandatory since 1 January 2014, submitted through the USP / ER>B (e-Rechnung.gv.at), which accepts ebInterface and lists the PEPPOL network among its channels. Addressing a federal entity requires specific routing details that EncryptInvoice does not yet set, so please confirm with your contracting authority before relying on this route. As of 2026 there is no general B2B e-invoicing mandate in Austria.
- PEPPOL delivery of EN 16931 invoices; federal B2G addressing not yet implemented — confirm with your contracting authority
- EN 16931 / UBL 2.1 and PEPPOL BIS 3.0 formatting

Frequently Asked Questions
Is e-invoicing mandatory in Austria?
For the federal government, yes — e-invoicing has been mandatory since 1 January 2014 through ER>B / e-Rechnung.gv.at, which accepts ebInterface and lists the PEPPOL network among its channels. EncryptInvoice does not yet set the specific routing a federal entity requires, so confirm the route with your contracting authority. As of 2026 there is no general B2B mandate in Austria.
Can EncryptInvoice send e-invoices to the Austrian federal government?
EncryptInvoice generates EN 16931-compliant PEPPOL BIS 3.0 e-invoices and connects via a certified PEPPOL Access Point. Austria's federal portal lists PEPPOL among its channels, but addressing a federal entity needs routing details we do not yet set, so we do not claim that path works today. Federal entities also accept the national ebInterface format, which we do not produce.
How does UID (VAT number) validation work?
We run UID format checks (ATU followed by eight digits) and EU VIES pre-checks to flag issues before you send. Please confirm official records for final accuracy.
Can I invoice clients in other EU countries?
Yes! Through PEPPOL, you can send e-invoices to 27+ European countries, including all EU members. Cross-border format conversion is handled automatically.
